The historical landslide between Tramonto Drive that cuts through Revello Drive and Posetano Road and continues down to the PCH is a key issue concerning the Castellammare community. Currently there is a 1.35 acre development project with preliminary city approval that the CMHO is appealing along with other residents. Although we are not opposed to the idea of development to improve the slide area, simply stabilizing specific properties on a portion of the slide without addressing the slide area holistically is too risky for the safety and access of residents in this neighborhood. Tramonto Drive is the only ingress/egress for emergency vehicles to Castellammare, and is supported by a bulkhead which is not fixed into bedrock and poorly maintained. We have hired Luna & Glushon to represent us at an appeal hearing to the Westside Building Commission on April 19^th, and will likely incur additional expenses for legal fees and experts in the future. We are looking to raise $50,000 from the community to sustain the effort of protecting the landslide area that continues to erode and threaten the gateway to this majestic neighborhood.
