Goal
Latincouver Cultural & Business Society, founded in 2008, is the largest Latin American non-profit in Western Canada and proudly serves as the Latin American Plaza in BC. Just like La Plaza in Latin American cities, we are the heart of the community—bringing people together through culture, business, and social connections. We provide a unique space, both physical and virtual, where cultural exchange thrives, businesses grow, and individuals are empowered to succeed.
Through our four pillars—Promoting Culture, Connecting Business, Empowering People, and Supporting Communities—we actively create spaces that support and uplift the Latin American community in British Columbia, ensuring that our community continues to grow and enrich the diverse fabric of our province.
Together for Mental Health at Carnaval del Sol
Turning Grief into Collective Action
This year, during Carnaval del Sol, and with the collaboration of Filipino BC, Latincouver is launching a heartfelt campaign, one born from both grief and hope.
Earlier this year, tragedy struck the Lapu Lapu Festival, deeply affecting both the Filipino and Latin American communities. In the face of this loss, a powerful desire emerged: to turn pain into purpose and take action for collective healing.
This campaign is more than a tribute, it’s a commitment: to support mental wellness, to break the silence around grief and trauma, and to ensure that no one faces their struggles alone.
What began as a response to shared grief in the Latin American and Filipino communities has grown into a citywide effort, one that will bring mental health support to individuals and families across Vancouver.
Funds raised will directly support:
- United Way BC's Kapwa Strong Fund, with 25% of funds raised going toward expanding access to mental health and counselling support for community members in Vancouver.
- Latincouver’s mental health programming, helping us enhance and grow culturally grounded services for women, seniors, newcomers, and immigrants in the Latin American community.
Why You Should Get Involved
This is more than a campaign.
It’s a movement to protect lives, empower healing, and stand as one community committed to change.
Your support helps us:
- Raise funds for essential mental health programs
- Build safe spaces where our people can speak their truth without shame
- Create welcoming environments where stories can be heard and honoured
- Pay tribute to those we've lost by protecting those still here
Together, we can make mental health a collective priority.
