The Gift of Giving
The Migrant Kitchen Initiative has partnered with Pippa Cohen in launching a new initiative - The Gift of Giving. Beginning this holiday season, The Gift of Giving will distribute hot meals and pantry boxes that include foods that are culturally relevant to the communities we are serving. Distributions will take place monthly in the Bronx, Queens and Manhattan. Our goal is to serve hundreds of food insecure New Yorkers for an entire year, giving them the means to prepare ongoing healthy and delicious meals.
The Gift of Giving is inspired by Cohen's late mother, Andy Bronfman, whose life's work was to help those in need. In the wake of 9/11, Mrs. Bronfman founded The Gift of New York to help the families of the victims of the tragedy. “My mother had an incredibly philanthropic soul and did everything she could for anyone who needed help of any kind,” said Cohen. “I can only hope to be a quarter of the person she was and my effort to feed hundreds of families in need with The Migrant Kitchen Initiative comes without a doubt, from her legacy and spirit and I hope to also inspire others to continue to give to those in need.”
With your support, we can ensure that food insecure New Yorkers have the means to feed their families healthy and delicious meals on a consistent basis.
