Goal
At 23 years old, I was diagnosed with Borderline Ovarian Tumors (BOTs) after a long journey of advocating for answers about symptoms that I knew were not normal. Receiving this diagnosis as a young adult was shocking and overwhelming. Because my diagnosis exists in a complicated gray area, I wasn’t sure where to turn for support or find others who understood what I was experiencing. Ann’s Place welcomed me with open arms and gave me the support and understanding I desperately needed. Through the Young Adult Support Group and Kitten Club, I found a community where I felt seen, validated, and able to find moments of comfort and relief during some of the hardest parts of my journey. On September 25th, I hope to celebrate two years tumor-free, and I am grateful for the people at Ann’s Place who helped me find strength, hope, and connection along the way. I am honored to participate in Through the Lens and share my story in hopes that others facing a cancer diagnosis, or a diagnosis that feels difficult to define, know they are not alone.
Thank you for supporting the models featured in Ann’s Place’s Through the Lens reception. Through photography, this event celebrates individuals whose stories reflect the experiences of many neighbors whose lives have been touched by cancer.
Your donation directly supports local families by helping fund vital services for individuals and their loved ones as they navigate their cancer journeys.
