Why I’m Honored to Support Ann’s Place Through the Lens

In January 2020, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. By the end of February, I had surgery — and then, just weeks later, the world shut down due to COVID.

While I had a strong support system at home, I had to face treatment and oncology appointments alone due to pandemic restrictions. The isolation was overwhelming. Resources were limited. In-person support disappeared almost overnight.

That’s when Ann’s Place entered my life.

Even in the most uncertain moments, Ann’s Place became a steady and compassionate presence — not only for me, but for my family. Their physical and emotional support, delivered through phone calls, virtual sessions, and eventually in-person care, gave me strength when I needed it most. Their team offered many resources, a listening ear, and a genuine understanding that helped me feel less alone in my journey.

I was incredibly honored to be asked to participate in this year’s Through the Lens event as a featured model. It’s my way of giving back to an organization that helped carry me through.

Ann’s Place operates entirely on donations. Every dollar raised goes directly toward providing cancer patients and their families — right here in our local community — with the support, services, and hope they need.
