Hi, I’m Carrie, and I am a breast cancer survivor. But that isn’t what defines me. More importantly, I’m a wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. I was diagnosed 11 years ago at age 45. I was shocked, I rarely got sick, lived healthy, and stayed active. In any threatening situation, we instinctively choose flight or fight. I chose to fight this battle head on, full steam. I chose to be aggressive- that is who I am.  My family and friends will attest to that.

I continued living my life and leaned on an incredible support system. Chemo was tough, losing my hair was even tougher, but I was determined to beat this. If it ever comes back, I’ll face it again head-on, with even more strength and heart.

Not everyone has the support I did. When one of my doctors asked if I’d speak with other patients, I didn’t hesitate. That’s what brings me here today—to support others still fighting.

I didn’t win this battle alone. Thank you to my husband Bill, my children, my family, friends, and doctors who stood by me every step of the way.
