Goal

Spring Valley High School Class of 1991 Alumnus and renowned sculptor, Thomas Humphries has been commissioned to create a larger-than-life recycled metal sculpture that will feature a pair of Vikings  (male and female).  The sculpture will be installed just outside Harry Parone Stadium and will be visible from Sparkleberry Drive.

Thomas’ works have traveled as far as the National Steeplechase Museum, and the World Equestrian Games and are currently exhibited at Riverbanks Zoo and the SC State Fairgrounds, just to name a few.  Spring Valley is honored that Thomas has chosen to return to his alma mater for his next big work.   Additional works and information can be found on Facebook and links can be found at the Spring Valley Education Foundation sites.

Donors may also contribute everyday pieces of metal that may be incorporated into the sculptures.  Donors are especially encouraged to donate items from their time at Spring Valley High School or that may reflect their experience at the school or current life and careers. Examples of donations include:  Metal must be stainless steel, cast iron, or metal to which a magnet must strongly attach.  Metal must be less than 24 inches and less than 15 lbs in weight.   Items will be subject to approval by the sculptor.  Metal can be dropped off at Spring Valley High School
