Goal

Who am I?

My name is Nitai Weinberg, a 25-year-old stroke survivor who has overcome all odds to live his dream of surfing in the Gold Coast, and is currently writing a book called Changing Tides to share his whole journey.

What is Project Surfboard?

It is a project where I will hand-deliver a custom surfboard with my book pitch on it to the Billabong Headquarters to convince them to sponsor my book. Along this whole journey, I wanted to see what kinds of things I could do every day, simple things that anyone can do, that can make a positive impact in the world. So along with delivering this surfboard, I’ll be running a 7-day social impact challenge to fundraise for the stroke survivor fund, which helps survivors in need receive rehabilitation services.

Every day of this challenge I’ll be doing something completely different, but each day will have three things in common: 1. I’ll be seeking discomfort, 2. I’ll be spreading positivity, and 3. I’ll be making some type of impact. I’ll be documenting this whole journey on social media through TikTok and Instagram to share these messages. Whoever donates to the survivor fund will get to be part of the story, as I etch their names/handles onto the board to cement their generosity into the history of Project Surfboard.

Why am I fundraising?

I was fortunate enough to have all of my rehabilitation services funded by my parents. I was lucky to have such an amazing recovery. I wanted to find a way to give back and help others on their stroke recovery journeys.
