Friends of The Long Table
“Awesome things happen when we eat together”
We wouldn’t be here without our Friends - our amazing partners who support us to answer our driving question of “what if everyone in our community had access to great food and people to eat it with?”
Each Friend pledges £5 per week to the Long Table. This support had allowed us to survive; to cook out of a lorry when we were between homes and to build the wonderful new community space where anybody can eat delicious food together, cooked with amazing local ingredients, for whatever they can afford.
In the first year in our new home over 23,000 people ate with us and paid what they could. On average 11% received a paid forward meal, funded by our community and 40% paid below what it costs us to make each meal. Being a Friend means we will never have to turn anyone away from our table, and being a part of our ever growing community.
In addition, these weekly donations have allowed us to fund and fill the Freezers of Love (providing food equality, giving everyone access to good food), hire apprentices and grow our team. They also helped us to build our Brimscombe kitchen, create an awesome community food hall (for you to regularly visit) and further deepen our roots in our Five Valleys.
We now thrive thanks to the support of our Friends, so thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey.
