T’ena Health is a Los Angeles based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to eradicate health disparities through sharing resources, knowledge, and compassion. Operating for two years now, we value the connections we have made within the communities we serve so we may advocate for them to our fullest potential.
Homies Care is our largest initiative to provide preventive medicine to our low income and unhoused neighbors. This project involves hygiene kits that we call Care Kits, and they include socks, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, feminine hygiene pads, deodorant, flushable wet wipes, tissue, and a comb. These items are essential for daily hygiene and work to prevent such a vulnerable population from developing skin infections, scalp problems, oral diseases, bacterial infections, and UTIs.
So far, we have been able to serve multiple communities throughout Los Angeles County, Inland Empire, San Fernando Valley, and the San Francisco Bay Area. We have successfully assembled and distributed 16,000 Care Kits to date!
South LA is a community that is significantly under-resourced, especially in regards to accessible healthcare. We knew we wanted to create change and combat this inequity, so we launched our Pop-Up Health Clinic earlier this year. At these clinics, we provide free health screenings, covid testing and vaccinations, and health education. Since beginning this effort in September 2021, we have served over 200 patients and look forward to serving more!
