As my year as an intern with the Southern Cross Kids Camp board comes to an end, I am so thankful for The Board Internship and the opportunities it has opened for me in the board room and in life. I can’t wait to see the impact of The Board Internship in the lives of other young leaders and Christian organisations across Australia.

Early 2023 I was feeling lost, questioning my purpose and where I was going. I was grateful for the long-standing involvement I have with Southern Cross Kids Camps (SCKC) and the opportunities I have been blessed with, attending a number of camps across Australia. But I couldn’t help feeling that I had more to give. But what that “more” was, I had no idea.
The Board Internship (TBI) has helped me find my “more”. This year long program aims to equip young Christian Leaders (22-35 years old) through an immersive learning experience to enter the boardroom and have an equal seat at the table. Through conference attendance, specialised webinars, one on one mentoring and partnering with a host board, interns (including me) are given the opportunity to learn the fundamentals behind being a competent and confident board member.
The Board Internship has helped me realise, that just like most things in life, with the appropriate training and supports I can make a difference serving on a board, bringing a new perspective to the boardroom and be involved in the advancement of a Christian organisation.
I would love for you to consider partnering with me to raise funds to continue to provide opportunities for young Christian leaders to find their “more” through The Board Internship program. With the average age of board members across Australia on the rise, the need is greater now more than ever to train young leaders to create sustainable well-run organisations both now and into the future.

It will allow Board Directors across Australia to have confidence inviting young people to the boardroom table to plan for the future.
