Have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes that transforms a good organization into a great one? It's all about Good Governance—a powerful force that goes beyond policies and budgets, influencing every aspect of an organization's DNA.
Up until recently, I thought Good Governance was just when you had a group of people in suits talking about budgets and sending you policies to sign. And it was... fine.
However, during my Board Internship placement at the Leprosy Mission Australia, I witnessed the magic that happens when governance is done right. It's not just about meetings and paperwork; it's about compassionate leadership, strategic decision-making, and a commitment to excellence that permeates every corner of the organization.
Some of the things this program has involved:
Mentorship: Regular meetings with a mentor from The Leprosy Mission has been an enriching experience, shaping my perspective on effective governance.
Financial Fluency: Delving into the intricacies of finance reports has been an eye-opening adventure. Understanding the financial heartbeat of an organization is key to making informed governance decisions.
CEO Handover Observation: Witnessing a CEO handover has been a firsthand lesson in leadership transition. It's not just about changing names on the office door; it's a strategic process that requires finesse, ensuring continuity and stability for the organization.
Continuous Training in Good Governance: Regular participation in training sessions led by professionals in the field has been a cornerstone of my learning journey. Covering a diverse range of topics, these sessions have equipped me with knowledge and skills essential for board members.
The Board Internship empowers emerging leaders with the skills to drive this transformation forward. Your support enables them to invest in training programs for young minds, shaping a new generation of leaders who understand that governance isn't a box to check—it's a catalyst for positive change.

I am prayerfully hoping to raise $1,000 to cover the costs of my internship. This cost is currently being covered by my host board, the Leprosy Mission.
Any further donations will go towards the larger organisation so that more interns may be trained in the future.
