Goal
After winding down my own business early 2024, I was prayerfully seeking what was next for me - how was God going to use me. I came with open hands, open heart and an open mind.
As I had also just stepped down from chairing the Standards Panel for CMA, I prayed there was a chance for me to continue to serve and support the amazing work of CMA.
The Board Internship Program, a joint program run by CMA and Korus Connect, is standing in the gap, building much needed governance skills in young Christians so they can bring fresh ideas to Christian ministry boards.
When Gary Williams told me they needed help and had a spot for a day a week to become Administrator for the program, I jumped at it. This is right in my wheelhouse, in terms of my passion, skills and expertise, and I am loving being a part of this flourishing gift, in supporting the interns, encouraging the mentors, and continuing to seek new host boards and interns for future years.
But it needs more support. There are processes and systems to develop to get this Program in position to scale it. There are costs such as physically getting the interns to the CMA Conference at the beginning and the end of their program. There are resources we would love to be able to equip them with, and things we would love to do for the Alumni that we simply cannot do....yet.
That's where you come in :)
More about The Board Internship
The Board Internship (TBI) places Christian leaders, between 22 and 35 years of age, in a year-long program that includes attendance at conferences, a full learning & development program, placement for a year in the boardroom of a host organisation, board mentoring, networking and more. Interns not only gain knowledge about ministry governance, but experience it in the real world of a well-functioning Christian boardroom. They graduate from TBI with the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to make a valuable contribution in the boardrooms of the future, and many are appointed to boards immediately after their internship.
Who is The Board Internship? www.theboardinternship.org.au
TBI is a joint project of Korus Connect (www.korusconnect.org.au) and CMA (www.cma.net.au) – charities who share a passion for helping Christian organisations become as effective as they can be.
How is TBI funded?
Interns are not charged a fee to participate. TBI meets their travel and conference costs, host organisations pay a fee to contribute towards these program costs, but this fee doesn't cover the hard costs of the program. Our interns participate in this peer-to-peer fundraising campaign, each with an individual goal to raise at least $1000 towards the remaining costs of their internship. In addition, CMA and Korus Connect seek to raise a matching amount ($1000 per intern, or $17,000 in 2024-5), to provide the funds needed for things beyond the core participation costs, like staffing, administration, and expanding the initiative.
Will you invest in future ministry boards?
We invite you to prayerfully consider partnering with us by either supporting myself, one of the individual interns in reaching their campaign goal, or by making a donation to the general program of The Board Internship. By using the donation box on this page, you can select an amount - either one-off or recurring - and use the drop-down box to designate an individual intern, or the general program. Your tax-deductible gift helps ensure that church and ministry boards will benefit more and more from the energy, perspective and experience of today’s young interns.
Note that your receipt will come from Korus Connect.
Thank you for your faithful generosity.
