An Invitation to Connect Through Portraiture
In a world that often emphasizes our differences, The Wild Rose Project seeks to highlight our shared humanity through candid portrait photography and heartfelt storytelling on the streets of Portland Oregon. This initiative aims to capture the lives and experiences of everyday people from all walks of life, inviting them to share their journeys in intimate conversations before being photographed.
My goal is simple yet profound: to create a captivating photo book and short film that celebrate the diverse voices within our community. By fostering spontaneous, genuine connections and conversations, I hope to inspire empathy and understanding, breaking down barriers and creating a sense of unity.
To bring this vision to life, I am seeking financial sponsorship and in-kind donations of essential equipment, including photography gear and audio equipment. This project is not just about funding; it’s about creating a movement that encourages dialogue and engagement. By supporting The Wild Rose Project, you will be investing in a platform that invites community participation and fosters meaningful relationships.
As the creator of this project, I am deeply passionate about the power of human connection. I consider it an honor to listen to and capture the stories of others, allowing their experiences to shine through in portraiture. This project will challenge me to step outside my comfort zone and provide a space for people to share their narratives, ultimately bringing to light the beauty of our differences and the strength of our similarities.
I invite you to join me on this journey of connection and understanding. Together, we can create a lasting impact within our community, fostering a spirit of unity and appreciation for the diverse tapestry of lives that make up our city. Thank you for considering being a part of The Wild Rose Project. Let’s celebrate the stories that connect us all.
I’m Tony Muncy, a photographer and artist born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Creativity has always been at the core of who I am, whether through photography, graphic design, or working with my hands. My passion lies in portraiture and human connection — I love capturing the unique beauty and talents of each individual. I strive to create an environment where people can truly be seen, heard, and recognized for who they are. My goal is to help others see themselves in a new light and appreciate their God-given gifts. Like everyone, I continue to face my own insecurities and setbacks, but I believe that through photography, we can inspire resilience and self-acceptance. At the heart of my work is the philosophy of 'Sawubona', a Zulu greeting meaning "I see you." It encapsulates my belief in the power of recognition and connection. I want everyone I photograph to know they are valued and celebrated.
