Support. Empower. Educate. Transform.
Make a difference in the life of a transgender South Dakotan today.
Far too many transgender youth and young adults in South Dakota and around the region have faced misunderstanding, hostility, and outright discrimination simply because of who they are. This has created a climate where kids live in fear of being their true selves, where parents desperate for community are increasingly isolated, and where vulnerable people feel powerless. In this climate, over 69% of transgender youth report harming themselves in the past year, and over 50% contemplate and attempt suicide. These statistics are nearly twice the national average for transgender youth and nearly 10 times the average for all youth.
It doesn't need to be this way, and you can help by supporting The Transformation Project of SD.
As a locally-led, 501c3 nonprofit organization, The Transformation Project works tirelessly to empower, educate, and support transgender youth and families and the communities they are a part of so that every person is loved, valued, and empowered to make their dreams a reality. Whether it is hosting a community advocacy event, educating the public on transgender experiences, publishing the annual Transforming SD magazine, or providing welcome kits and support groups to transgender South Dakotans and their families, The Transformation Project is making South Dakota and the surrounding a region a place where transgender people can live, work, play, and love without fear and with community.
Every dollar you contribute to The Transformation Project stays right here in South Dakota, with the youth and families who need your support the most. Make a one-time gift, or become a Hero for Trans Youth by making a monthly contribution.
Support. Educate. Empower. Transform. That's our work, and we're thankful for your support.
