The Show Must Go On....
We know you would not be here reading this if you didn’t know that the arts have been hit very hard in 2020, and while that is a concern for us too, NEWDO’s board, faculty, staff, students and parents have come together in a way we never expected to support the ability of young dancers to continue, as much and as safely as possible, to interact and participate in an art form we all love.
We have continued classes, workshops and most importantly rehearsals for our much beloved Green Bay Nutcracker Ballet. Measures we have taken to protect our staff and students include masks, hand washing, frequent studio cleaning and social distancing. Dancers who have concerns about coming to class or are sick may continue to participate online via Zoom.
We know the most wonderful part of dancing, especially The Nutcracker, is to perform and we want to make sure we can offer this to our students in the best, safest, most satisfying way. For the safety of our dancers, we have plans to perform to a limited audience in our studios at The Green Bay School of Dance. We are also looking at the best possible way to share The 2020 Green Bay Nutcracker Ballet online to a wider audience.
We know The Nutcracker will not be the same as all of us have come to expect. We will not be able to invite our professional guests, the cast is small and some acts can’t be performed live under the current conditions. Yes, this may be a different Nutcracker Ballet, but it may also be our most important and our most memorable. We are very proud of the community that has gathered around us to support our efforts.
We don’t want to put a price on this performance. Knowing what this opportunity is worth for our students, we believe everyone will pay what they can. For any donation, you will receive a link to view the following Nutcracker performances online:
Friday, November 27 at 6:00pm
Saturday, November 28 at 12:00pm
We are currently looking into streaming these performances live via Zoom. All donors will receive a link before the performance no matter what amount they choose to give.
Thank you for your support of the arts and the children in our community. We couldn’t do it without you.
Best,
Northeastern Wisconsin Dance Organization
