Starting this career over 12 years ago I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Chris was a preceptor of mine who was dedicated and cared deeply for the profession and each patient. Quiet and reserved, I had no idea the darkness in his personal life and the toll the profession had taken. Since his passing I strive to be a safe place for colleagues and committed to being there for my peers in their darkest times.

Russ’s last act was to help others when he died in the line of duty June 24, 1989 outside of Windsor ON in Lake Erie. A compassionate paramedic and a great guy around the station and at the ball tournaments. I think of him fondly and often.
