Goal
Charlene Milner of Busy Bodies Gym will be climbing Mt Mumpu Zambia's highest free standing mountain in support of raising money for the Ishuko Project and Ndola SPCA in Zambia.
The Ishuko Project is a project of Twafwane Association which a Zambian NGO founded by the Italian Missionary Dr Cristina Fazzi operating in Zambia since 2000.
The Ishuko Project is the very first mental health care centre for youth under the age of 18 in Zambia. The construction of the mental health care facility will comprise of three structures, the first building is the clinic which has just been completed. The two structures yet to be built are the separate wards for the boys and girls and a kitchen with dining and living rooms.
The project includes training of psychiatric health care staff for the proper treatment of the children admitted into the centre who may require to remain for up to 6 months. During their stay the children will participate in social and expressive activities that are a very important part of their treatment as well as the admission of psychiatric drugs.
The mental health care centre will undertake several functions including:
- facilitating the patients transition back into society;
- consultation, review and home treatment for patients who do not need admission; and
- counselling for the children and their families.
The fundraising is to complete the construction of this much needed mental health care centre for the children of Zambia who do not have access to main stream health care.
We also wish to give a small percentage of the donations to the Ndola SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) which is a non-profit organisation and registered charity that relies on the kindness of the community for its daily running of the organisation and protection of our animals. Giving a voice to the voiceless.
