Goal

Hello,

My name is Alaa Radwan, and I am collaborating with my partners, Erin and Rosella, to establish an educational summer camp for Palestinian children recently evacuated from Gaza and now residing in Cairo. This initiative arose from our interactions with Palestinian families whose children have missed an entire year of schooling. To support these children, we have organized a six-week summer camp that covers four core subjects: English, math, science, and art.

Our summer camp is unique, designed to help alleviate the trauma experienced by these children during the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Alongside academic subjects, we offer dabka (traditional dance) training, arts and crafts, calligraphy, and psychological support activities led by a professional school counselor from Gaza. Additionally, we are providing livelihood opportunities for teachers and trainers from Gaza through our program. The children will also receive a hot meal prepared by a Palestinian home-cooked kitchen business, established by a family who lost everything during the war. In essence, our summer camp will be a 100% Gazan initiative, helping the children feel at home.

Meet us:

Rosella Tofani: I live in Ireland and believe in the power of the human community. I support this project with my experience as a project lead in the financial sector and as a care worker.

Erin Fisher: I'm a humanitarian aid worker who recently left my job in Ukraine and Romania to work with Palestinian kids who've been displaced to Cairo. I have lots of experience working in disaster and conflict zones, and I specialize in working with kids.

Alaa Radwan: Recently evacuated from Gaza with my husband and our three little children and now residing in Cairo. I am a dedicated teacher passionate about fostering education and nurturing the growth of young minds.
