For nearly two decades, NYCLASS has fought to end New York City’s cruel and dangerous horse-drawn carriage industry.

Today, we are closer than ever to making history.

We have secured the support of 30 New York City Council Members for Romanch’s Law- more than the 26 votes needed to pass the legislation. 

Mayor Zohran Mamdani has also publicly voiced his support for the passage for the bill.

This historic milestone was made possible because supporters like you never gave up. But while we have the votes pledged, the fight is far from over.

We are hopeful the Council vote will take place in September, and between now and then, we have an enormous amount of work to do to ensure this bill crosses the finish line.

The carriage industry and the union representing carriage drivers are fighting harder than ever to stop this legislation. 

They are spending heavily on lobbying and misleading advertising while continuing their lawsuit against NYCLASS in an effort to silence our advocacy and protect the status quo.
