Goal

The Compassion Acupuncture Project was founded by acupuncturist Shea D Broussard in April of 2019. We shifted names into The Compassion Access Project as we broadened the scope of our offerings.
It is our privilege and responsibility to care for members of our community.

The mission of The Compassion Access Project is to serve community members who hold historically marginalized identities, lifting and prioritizing care for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) LGBTQIA+, and Neurodivergent People by providing:
~ Access to high quality herbal medicine to support mental and physical health needs
~ Items and education to promote self care and mindful healing
~ Access to safe and respectful mental and physical health resources

The Compassion Apothecary  was created in 2020 to curate locally made tinctures, teas, and herb packets to support The Compassion Access Project;  100% of funds donated by the community are directed to increase access to medicinal herbs and self care products to those who have been historically marginalized and seeking safe care.

2023-2024 Offerings include:

~ Community Self Serve Herb Stations:

Launched in January of 2023, we are excited to be offering several Community Self Serve Herb Stations: stationary locations for community members to access medicinal herbs and self care items as needed.  This is a long awaited program that will replace the Care Bag program to offer a more sustainable program with ongoing offerings. The Herb Stations are setting up throughout the Durham, NC area in locations offering resources, services, and safe spaces including Radical Healing, People’s Solidarity Hub, and more!

~ Community Pop Up Clinics:

The Compassion Access Project offers several Community Pop Up Clinics throughout the year offering FREE AcuEar Seed treatments for stress and resilience and access to medicinal herbs and self care items.  The NADA Ear Protocol was used in community acupuncture clinics in the 1970’s by The Black Panthers and Young Lords who broadly changed community health care.  We offer this protocol because it is safe for everyone and omits any need for sharing personal information when receiving ear seeds.

~ Compassion Access + Community Feeding Projects:

The Compassion Access Project is excited to collaborate with local feeding programs to expand access to medicinal herbs and self care products.  We are currently working with Feed Durham and looking for other opportunities to share and support our community.

The Compassion Access Project is excited to continue to organically shift and grow based on community needs.

Thank you so much for your support in creating a healthier, happier community.
