My first encounter with cancer was when my grandfather Henry Legare fought his courageous battle.  Even at my young age at the time, I sensed the importance of community-no one should fight alone.


When a beloved neighbor was diagnosed with cancer in her 30s, I realized the unique challenges that come with fighting cancer as a young adult. I witnessed our neighborhood rally around this young woman and her family, as well as The Boon Project provide support for Jennie and her family.


The Boon Project was one near and dear to my late cousin Melissa Legare Brown’s heart. I am pleased to honor her legacy by raising funds and awareness to support such a worthwhile cause.
