TEDxPearlStreet exists to spread big ideas and elevate inspired citizenship in Washington, DC and beyond.  We are a diverse group of thought-leaders on a mission to educate, inspire, and facilitate change, with the ultimate goal being deep discussion and action across our communities. 

We accomplish this mission each year through large-scale events, immersive adventures, and our digital media content. Since 2019, 5,000 people have attended our in-person and livestream events, 50 speakers and performers have taken our stage, and our talks have been viewed more than 5 million times online.

BACKGROUND STATEMENT

TEDxPearlStreet is a nonprofit serving Washington, DC since 2019.

TEDxPearlStreet is made possible by the work and effort of the broader community: inspiring attendees, the efforts of thousands of hours from a large, committed team, deep involvement from partners and sponsors, and a wealth of brilliant innovators in Washington, DC who donate their time, energy, and talents to contribute to "Ideas Worth Spreading."

Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. TED Conferences invite the world's leading thinkers and doers to give the talk of their lives. These talks are then made available, free, at TED.com.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
