Goal

SAWA & Dammeh: Supporting Displaced Families in Lebanon

Lebanon is facing a severe escalation as Israel targets villages, resulting in over 280 deaths, hundreds injured, and tens of thousands displaced. This unprecedented assault has now extended to the Bekaa region, which is home to thousands of Lebanese families and a high concentration of refugees.

This attack comes at a critical time when Lebanon is already grappling with a deep economic crisis, straining its infrastructure and essential services. The effects are profoundly felt across the population, marked by rising food insecurity, rampant inflation, and a lack of basic necessities. The ongoing aggression urgently exacerbates these challenges, with a critical lack of government response and severely limited humanitarian interventions.

In response to the tens of thousands of displaced individuals, the Lebanese government has opened its official schools as shelters.

Sawa and Dammeh are coming together for this campaign. To support these efforts and address the crisis, the SAWA team is collaborating with the Ministry of Social Affairs and UNHCR to implement emergency measures aimed at assisting both Syrian and Lebanese families fleeing the violence.

  • Relief Coordination
    • Our team is contacting local schools in the Central Bekaa region that are hosting displaced individuals to assess their needs and provide support, alleviating the burden on official schools.
  • Sawa School Shelters
    • Our schools will serve as shelters in partnership with UNHCR and the Ministry of Social Affairs, ready to accommodate those in need.
  • Providing Homes:
    • Sawa will rent buildings and apartments to accommodate displaced families, covering all rental costs.

Given Lebanon’s ongoing financial crisis, the country’s infrastructure is unable to handle this level of displacement. NGOs and individual initiatives are essential lifelines for those affected.

Your support is critical. Here’s how you can help:

  • Sleeping Gear: Blankets, mattresses, sleeping bags, and pillows.

  • Food and Nutrition: Ready-to-eat meals, canned goods, rice, beans, and baby food.

  • Water and Sanitation: Water purification tablets, hygiene kits, and portable toilets.

  • Clothing: Warm clothing, shoes, and personal hygiene items.

  • Medical Supplies: First aid kits, medications, and health care supplies.

  • Cooking Equipment: Portable stoves, cooking utensils, and fuel.
