Established in 2009 by a group of Denver-based professional musicians, More Than Music’s goal is to challenge audiences to listen for and respond to their unique callings to serve others – using music presented in ensemble community as model and catalyst. Sometimes this looks like annual short-term “musicianary” trips overseas, giving away instruments to under-resourced musicians and establishing cross-cultural connections in Tier II Diplomacy fashion (sometimes in collaboration with the US State Department) – “Sound Diplomacy.” Sometimes it’s a multimedia school assembly program, challenging students to contemplate their callings to serve their communities, using the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr as example – “At the Table with Dr. King.” Sometimes it’s guest worship leading in churches, and recording those songs to share – “Blue Gospel.” And sometimes, it’s a multimedia, live-performance-based presentation of the Bible, one book at a time – “Blue Gospel Scripts.” A 501(c)3 nonprofit, More Than Music currently employs two full-time staff members (Dave and Kaitlin) and a includes an ever-expanding diverse community of over 50 musicians across the US.
