Support Youth Empowerment at The Sanctuary

The Sanctuary is a youth health and development organization based in downtown Baltimore. We operate a comprehensive, community-centered model that unites athletics, academics, nutrition, and behavioral health under one roof to strengthen health equity and opportunity for young people.

Serving more than 2500 youth annually, The Sanctuary provides consistent, preventive, and measurable supports that address the social determinants of health—creating safer, healthier, and more hopeful pathways for Baltimore’s next generation.

We are now advancing a $5.9 million capital initiative to secure and expand our facility into a state-of-the-art youth wellness campus, establishing a lasting infrastructure for community health, education, and belonging.

At The Sanctuary, our mission is simple yet systemic:
To make holistic youth wellness accessible, consistent, and transformative for every child in Baltimore.
We believe that the foundation for lifelong health is built long before adulthood. By giving young people daily access to movement, mentorship, nutritious meals, and emotional support, we give our urban youth outcomes the opportunity to thrive and excel.

Our purpose is not just to run programs—it is to rebuild the conditions that produce health and hope.

Baltimore’s young people face overlapping barriers that directly impact health and opportunity:

üLimited safe spaces for structured recreation and belonging.
üAcademic disparities that widen without consistent after-school support.
üFood insecurity affecting nearly one in four city children.
üBehavioral-health challenges compounded by stigma and lack of access.

These are not separate issues—they are connected. When a child’s physical, mental, and academic needs go unmet, outcomes decline across every domain.

The Sanctuary was designed to change that reality by bringing all four pillars of wellness into one place, where consistency and care reinforce each other every day.

OUR INVITATION. Partner with us to scale a proven, place-based model of prevention that can transform how communities invest in youth and wellness.
