Together, we can make a lasting impact on society.

About The Sociological Review Foundation

Who are we?

We are the home for critical sociological thinking and research in the UK and internationally. As a registered charity, our purpose is to advance the education of the public on sociology and related disciplines. We provide a platform for questioning conventional understandings of the social world and exploring alternative possibilities for what it might become.

What do we do?

Engage with publics in academia and beyond.

  • Publishing Groundbreaking Research: Our journal, The Sociological Review, is the UK’s oldest sociology journal, known for its theoretically advanced and methodologically rigorous studies. We publish work that addresses pressing social issues and promotes a deeper understanding of society.

  • Engaging Broader Audiences: Beyond academia, we seek to promote sociological thinking through our open-access Magazine, our Uncommon Sense podcast, and partnerships with other media outlets. We aim to raise awareness about key debates shaping contemporary societies and support projects that intervene in emerging social issues.

  • Supporting Early Career Researchers: We are committed to nurturing the next generation of sociologists. Through bursaries, writing retreats, and editorial training, we empower early career researchers to develop their skills and contribute to the field.

  • Hosting Inclusive Events: Our events, including lectures, Sociological Review Seminar Series, and conferences, bring together established and new scholars to share insights and foster collaboration. These gatherings are critical for advancing sociological thought and practice.

Why your support matters?

By donating to the Sociological Review Foundation, you are directly contributing to the advancement of sociological research and education. Your support allows us to:

  • Fund new research initiatives and publications that push the boundaries of sociological inquiry.

  • Provide opportunities for emerging scholars, ensuring a vibrant future for the discipline.

  • Host events that promote dialogue and knowledge sharing among academics and the public.

  • Develop resources and projects that address critical social issues and promote equity and justice.
