Strategic Litigation Project Support
The Strategic Litigation Project is an initiative within the Atlantic Council that provides critical support to some of the world’s most vulnerable populations, ensuring accountability for atrocity crimes, and advancing systemic reforms to prevent future abuses.
Toward these aims, our teams are currently:
- Preparing to file the first case involving gender persecution, torture, and atrocity crimes concerning Iran and the first complaint arguing for accountability against States supplying drones to Russia to be used in civilian attacks in Ukraine;
- Advancing an innovative intergovernmental fund for Syrian victims of atrocity crimes using fines, forfeitures and interest earned from sanctioned assets, to help meet the catastrophic needs to rehabilitate victims of the Assad Regime and ISIS;
- Advocating for the formal recognition of gender apartheid as an international crime to expand protections for women and gender minorities in Afghanistan and worldwide; and
- Building the Iranian Archive, a repository of digital evidence documenting human rights abuses and international crimes during the Islamic Republic of Iran’s crackdown on the Woman, Life, Freedom movement.
Your support at this critical juncture would enable us to continue our work uninterrupted, maintain the momentum of ongoing legal cases, and uphold the rights of those who have suffered unimaginable injustices. Stand for justice, donate today.
