Invest in journalism that makes a lasting impact in Maine

Good journalism empowers its reader with information. Good investigative journalism holds leaders and institutions to account and reveals issues that need attention.

We’ve already seen a strong response to our reporting this year, from our readers to state legislators.

When Mainers engage with our Maine Monitor reporting, we know we are doing our job and meeting our mission - getting information out so readers can participate and connect to create a better Maine.

During our March Fundraising Drive we need to raise $30,000 to power our nonprofit, in-depth reporting.

Your donation will keep our journalism working for you and making a lasting impact in Maine.

If you prefer, you can mail a check to The Maine Monitor to P.O. Box 284 Hallowell, ME 04347. To contribute through a charitable fund, please use Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting (EIN 27-2623867).

If you have any questions about your donation or membership please reach out to development officer Amelia Metcalfe at donations@themainemonitor.org

To be concerned about "misinformation" is important, but it is also important to understand (and act on that understanding) that the term has been weaponized and used against truth-tellers by people and entities that do not have our best interest at heart, and are themselves the purveyors of much of actual misinformation. Too much of the legacy media and compromised "fact checkers" have been involved in that. I hope the Maine Monitor can keep clear of that.
