Here's what we're working on right now.
1: Phoenix Water Drive
------ The little known about "ZONE" in downtown Phoenix is a tent city where more than 500 people live without adequate water, food, and shelter. During the summer months, temperatures reach over 110 degrees many days and the people have nowhere to go and nothing to do. It is a very dystopian scene and we at the Bob Rabbit Project are doing what we can to mitigate the immiseration caused by a system that has no solutions for people living with mental health and addiction issues. Our goal is keep a steady supply of water, non perishable food, and clothing going to this area and making life a bit easier--even if just for the day--for these people. All donations made go towards the purchase of water, food, and clothing as well as compensation for the gas that goes in volunteers' cars who deliver the supplies. If you would like to volunteer, please email bob@bobrabbit.com and lets get create a positive impact on this world.
2: Feed the Kids in Haiti
------ While traveling in Haiti, Rob (Bob Rabbit) and his main man Rony Pierre found refuge at the World Harvest Orphanage in Carrefour, Haiti. Rony grew up at this orphanage and has continued to do what he can for the kids and for Antonine Jean and Elie Jean, the founders of the orphanage and the caretakers of the kids. We send funds down every Saturday directly to Antonine for food and water to keep the kids nourished. There are about 30 kids at the orphanage on any given day. The mission is to someday provide education, healthcare, and job skills training to all the kids. For now, food and water are the baseline.
3: Get Rony Pierre to the Dominican Republic.
------ Rony Pierre grew up as an orphan in Haiti and has fought all his life to survive and continue spreading positive vibrations of hope to all the people in his life and to the people of Haiti at large. In 2018, Bob Rabbit and his team raised about $10,000, traveled to Haiti , and helped Rony get started on his dream of owning his own cafe. The initial mission, "Haitian Breeze Cafe", was a success. The space Rony had for the business was remodeled and within the month was open for business. Things were looking up until one day, while traveling through Port-Au-Prince to do record some music, Rony was kidnapped and nearly lost his life. Shortly after, the cafe was robbed and his house was robbed as well. Damn shame, but the jaws of systemic poverty oftentimes brutally devour those fighting to make a change. The next 12 months were a battle for survival and hope, and ultimately resulted in the plan to get Rony to the DR to work on music and someday open up his own Haitian Creole style restaurant. We were able to get him a new passport and a visa to the DR, but on the day of his departure, the border between Haiti and Dominican Republic was shut due to coronavirus fears. A few months past and the border was reopened for the beginning of July 2020. On Saturday, July 11th, Rony was able to make the journey from Leogane, Haiti to Santo Domingo successfully. Thank God! We have much to do.
4: The ECHO ARTIST GRANT PROGRAM
------- In an attempt to help local artists kickstart their careers, Echo Coffee donates 1% of their total sales each week to the Bob Rabbit Project. With these funds, we are able to write out grants that fund particular projects for an array of artists. The Summer Grant that will go to Joey Gutos is in full effect! Funding ends August 31st.
Cheers!
