Goal
At a time of unprecedented global change, t r a c e invites writers and readers to build community and solidarity through books and events.
We are a small, non-profit press committed to building beautiful, thought-provoking books that explore conflict, war, displacement, exile, migration, labour, healing, love and resistance. We publish essays, translations, oral histories, memoirs, anthologies, children’s books and books on food, health, labour and the environment in relation to such transformations. We are unafraid to mix genres, voices, and languages. We remain indebted to the work of progressive presses around the world.
We invite you to support our work and join our community. Your donations allow us to take on new writers and manuscripts to illuminate the spaces and times we live in.
* The Association of Canadian Publishers’ 2018 survey revealed something most of us already knew: 82% of the respondents were white, 74% female, and 72% heterosexual. Lee & Low’s 2015 study of American publishing found similar numbers in the USA.
* t r a c e press is one of very few presses in North America run by queer immigrant women of colour
