Conversion therapies trade on the falsehood that homosexuality is an abnormality, something that can be cured. Conversion therapies should be banned and the provision of them should be treated as a criminal offence.

A ban on conversion therapy is long overdue. It is critical that the government is held to account on its commitments and isn’t allowed to water this down by excluding particularly vulnerable people such as Transgender youth from its scope or by allowing exemptions for religious organisations.
