SUPPORT SOULS GROWN DEEP
Donate today and be a catalyst for change.
As we approach the end of another transformative year, we find ourselves reflecting on the strides made and the challenges that persist in the art world. Souls Grown Deep has been at the forefront of advocating for equity and justice in the arts, and we are reaching out to you to join us in fueling this crucial mission.
In 2023, the art world stands at a crossroads, grappling with deep-seated inequities that have persisted for far too long. While strides have been made towards inclusivity, there is much work to be done to ensure that artists of all backgrounds are given the recognition and opportunities they deserve. Souls Grown Deep has been unwavering in its commitment to advancing social justice within the art world, focusing on supporting artists from communities that have historically been marginalized. Our exhibition at London’s Royal Academy of Art this year brought the talent of many of the 160 artists for whom we advocate into sharp focus abroad. We have seen to the growth of personal income by the families of artists at work today, and we helped stage the 2nd annual Airing of the Quilts Festival in Gee’s Bend, Alabama, attracting visitors and yielding economic benefits to the community.
Here's how your donation can drive change:
Job Creation and Economic Development: Your support helps us foster economic investment in Black Belt communities spawning creativity, including small businesses, cooperatives, and developing cultural tourism.
Supporting Artists: Your contribution directly funds grants, residencies, and exhibitions that empower artists from underrepresented communities, fostering an environment where their creativity can thrive.
Preserving Cultural Heritage: Souls Grown Deep is dedicated to preserving and promoting the work of African American artists from the Southern United States. Your donation ensures that their contributions to the art world are not only recognized but celebrated and preserved for future generations.
Advocacy for Inclusion: We actively advocate for systemic changes within the art world to break down barriers that hinder the progress of marginalized artists. Your support amplifies our voice and strengthens our ability to drive meaningful change.
This year, let us come together to champion a more just and equitable world. Your contribution, no matter the size, is a crucial step towards fostering a creative landscape where every artist's story is valued and heard.
Make your contribution and stand with us as we strive for a more inclusive and equitable artistic community.
Thank you for your continued support and for being an essential part of Souls Grown Deep. Together, let’s create a legacy of social justice and artistic empowerment that resonates for generations to come.

I heard a quote once that said, "When life gives your scraps, make a quilt." I am deeply moved and inspired by the artistry of these quilts and the community of African American Women who make them.

In memory of the the Souls Grown Deep founder, William Arnett. A highly respected, accomplished and generous philanthropist, art collector and patron. But perhaps most of all a massively accomplished father, as evident by his son Harry.

The exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of the quilts and the work of Thornton Dial et.al. was one of the best and most enlightening shows I've ever seen. Bravo for lifting up these artists and now helping the community.
