Goal
Support activists punished for peaceful protest
In 2022, two activists took part in a peaceful visual protest during the March for Love and Resistance. Using temporary green paint, they painted the windows of an elite hunting and shooting shop in central London to imagine a kinder, rewilded future for Britain’s countryside.
Three years later, both have been found guilty of criminal damage and fined £1,000 each.
This crowdfunder exists so that no one who acts from conscience is left to shoulder those costs alone.
At the same time, wildlife crime in the UK continues to be weakly punished. Earlier this year, a gamekeeper who pleaded guilty to conspiring to kill a protected hen harrier on a grouse moor was fined £1,520 in total. The contrast speaks volumes about who the law protects, and who it does not.
This fundraiser is about solidarity, not endorsement of illegal action. You do not have to agree with everything that was done to believe that peaceful protest should not be punished more harshly than cruelty to wildlife.
Any money raised will go towards covering the activists’ fines and associated legal costs. Any funds raised beyond this will support ongoing work exposing the bird shooting industry and challenging wildlife crime in the UK.
If you are able to contribute, thank you. If not, sharing this page also helps.
Standing up for animals and nature should not come at such a high personal cost.
