Goal

This work is not easy. Every single day, we spend hours showing up for families impacted by ICE, meeting with lawyers, searching for resources, comforting mothers and children separated from their loved ones, and standing beside community members facing unimaginable stress. We are often the first call people make when everything falls apart, and we stay on the phone when there are no clear answers. We stay present through fear, grief, and uncertainty, even when the outcome is not guaranteed.

But what people don’t always see is what this work does to us. This work is heavy, emotional, and traumatizing. It is also scary. We are immigrants ourselves, and the same system we are fighting against impacts our own lives, our families, and our communities.

When someone is taken, it doesn’t feel distant. It feels close and personal. There is a real fear that comes with this work ,  the fear of being targeted, the fear of retaliation, and the fear of knowing that what is happening to the families we support could happen to us too.

And still, we continue, because the families we serve do not have the option to stop. We carry calls where people are crying, where children are asking where their parents are, and where families are trying to understand what just happened. We hold that pain over and over again, and over time it takes a toll not just physically, but emotionally and psychologically. It shows up as anxiety, exhaustion, sleeplessness, and the constant weight of knowing how much is at stake every single day.

That is why we began therapy sessions for our volunteers. The weight of this work is real, and therapy has been helping us process what we carry and continue showing up in a healthy, sustainable way.

We work with therapists who understand immigration trauma, racial injustice, and the impact of responding to crisis after crisis. Right now, this care is being paid for out of pocket, and that is not sustainable.

If this work is going to continue, the people doing it need to be supported too.

The amount we are raising will cover many sessions for us .

Thank you for standing with us.
