Pamenar Press is an independent press producing books of poetry and hybrid/critical writing which are cross-cultural, multi-lingual, and working in those provisional and radical areas of interconnected and parallel traditions sometimes and inadequately called ‘experimental’.

Founded in 2019, we publish and foment experiments in translation, which we understand in its broadest and most subversive senses. That is, not as a mode through which to bring already-canonised literatures into a 'stable' Anglo-American English linguistic centre, but as anti-colonial writing practice; as erasure being undone; as reciprocal, mutually open yet critical contact between different global contexts and lived experiences; as movements between legibility and mutual illegibility across languages, cultures, or structures of feeling; as an embrace of the fundamentally relational quality of poetic writing; as an interest in the multiple languages of the world, including the languages of sound, vision, plants, bacteria, embodied and performance practices.

As well as creative work in poetry and hybrid prose forms, we publish writing that recognises the provisionality, uncertainty, and collective nature of work that takes place through the entanglement of individuals and communities in mutual formation. Each of our titles is designed by each author in close collaboration with artist Hamed Jabarha, creating a unique work with careful attention to aesthetic and conceptual detail. In the last six years, we’ve published thirty-five books across Catalan, Galatian, Sanskrit, French, Welsh, Arabic, Persian, German, Spanish, Hungarian, and Danish, including languages of the image and visual poetry. We also have books in Dutch and Antillean Creole forthcoming in 2025 and 2026!

Our free online magazine features over 300 works by contemporary poets, essayists, and translators, and our YouTube channel offers poetry readings and performances available freely to everyone. We invite you to explore, engage, and be a part of the Pamenar community.
