NEW WORK, NEW VOICES, NEW STORIES
NEW WORK, NEW VOICES, NEW STORIES
Playlab has come a long way in a short time, but we need to keep going. We need to keep pushing for growth, and strong diverse voices and stories on our stages. We want to do this right now because of strong demand from Queensland artists and audiences.
Playlab has been able to back playwrights in Queensland for over forty-seven years. Supporting an emerging playwright takes time, money and passion. Playlab has an abundance of passion, sufficient time, but little money.
We are appealing to you today to ask you to partner with us financially to forge pathways for emerging playwrights.
In 2019 we are embarking on two exciting programs, Sparks and the Emerging Female Playwrights Commission.
In partnership with QPAC, Playlab has launched Sparks, an intensive induction into playwriting for six emerging First Nations writers, led by First Nations practitioners.
The Emerging Female Playwrights Commission, led by award-winning playwright, Kathryn Marquet, will focus on five emerging female playwrights. These emerging playwrights will develop a new Australian work from an eco-feminist premise which will be produced and published by Playlab in a future season.
Like you, we believe in new and diverse voices. We can only take big steps like these because of your help.
Your donation will make a difference.
