 Meet Major Bob Massey.

After 22 years of honorable Army service, Bob is fighting to clear his name and expose a system that is failing Soldiers.

In early 2023, a single, highly disputed urinalysis triggered a cascade of administrative actions that derailed his career. Despite procedural failures, chain-of-custody concerns, and senior medical experts confirming the case was mishandled, Bob was removed from flight status, issued a GOMAR, given a referred OER, and forced to retire as an O4, even after being selected for Lieutenant Colonel.

Bob’s case reveals a deeper failure at Fort Hood within the SUDCC system. He was forced into treatment under “unspecified” diagnoses, despite the Army’s own National SUDCC Program Director and multiple medical professionals confirming he did not meet criteria for a substance or alcohol use disorder and that there was no medical basis for the diagnosis.

The truth is simple and urgent: when a Soldier brings credible evidence and senior medical leaders validate systemic failures, the system must self-correct, not punish the Soldier for asking questions. Bob is fighting to restore the truth in his record and to force accountability so this never happens to another Soldier.
