LifeChangePlans.Com is a blog launched in October 2020 by a Survivor who Self-Published her first book, “What Type Of Man?” under the pen name Loren Keeling.
My Journey Of Post Separation Abuse.
In 2009, I entered a relationship that eventually spiraled into emotional and psychological abuse. After he ended the relationship in 2020, the post-separation abuse began.
I was left in a precarious situation by an emotionally abusive ex-partner. He ended our relationship, wanting to remain friends, yet became hostile, threatening and intimidating. Initially, he offered a 50/50 settlement of our home, but within days, he threatened to throw me onto the streets. With no name on the property title, not being married, and having no income, I found myself vulnerable. Just two weeks after leaving me, he was taking legal action under Spain's "precarious eviction" laws.
I've been stuck in the home we planned to share for four years after he reneged on promises of financial security and a settlement. He had threatened to throw me onto the streets twice before he left for the UK. When a GoFundMe page (sent to a close friend) was shared publicly, he used it to justify his anger and project the blame onto me. My legal advice was to stay in the property and negotiate; it was evident that I was unable to negotiate with him, and the lawyer who advised me to file a gender violence complaint understood that. Despite the dismissal of the gender violence case in 2021, there was abuse. However, the publicly appointed lawyer presented only the police statement as evidence. The case was heard as minor verbal abuse and not a longer case of a pattern of bad behaviour. (Power, Control, Dominance, Mind Games, Hidden Forms of Emotional Abuse.)
In 2021, we signed an agreement for a sum of £40,000. The original offer was 50% of the value of our Spanish home.
Still, he refused to honour the agreement, which was excluded as evidence in the civil court hearing for "precarious" eviction, where I had a free public defence lawyer against his paid Barcelona lawyer. I have attempted 15 times to settle a resolution, but every effort has failed.
In June 2022, I attended a Civil Court Verbal Hearing with a public-appointed free lawyer. Five days before the hearing, I tried to submit key evidence, including a negotiated financial settlement from July 2021, a letter offering €115k, and a 26-minute recording crucial to my case. However, I was told it was too late. With the help of a security guard who spoke some English, I was advised to dismiss my lawyer and file a complaint with the Bar Association.
Despite my hope to present the facts in the Civil Court verbal hearing, I was never given a chance to speak, and my ex-partner from the UK appeared in person without any questioning. The hearing lasted only five minutes, and my lawyer did nothing to defend me. The gender violence case heard in 2020 and 2021 was ignored by the civil defence lawyer, who told me that gender violence falls under criminal law and was not relevant to precarious eviction handled under civil law, leaving me without legal protection as a non-married ex-partner.
In 2023, I discovered why the plaintiff was not interrogated and why I had been silenced: I was discriminated against by my legal team. Article 6 Human rights violation no fair hearing.
Now, I face homelessness in Spain due to the systemic failures in the legal process and the gaps in the laws. The lack of thorough investigation into these cases of emotional and psychological abuse and the justice system's inability to acknowledge gender-based violence has left me without the protection I need
A news report quoted from Euro Weekly News 2023.
"The most common causes of homelessness in Spain include those seeking refuge and asylum, people suffering from drug and alcohol addiction and women who are victims of domestic violence."
Now, I am determined to break free. I have a business plan, pitch deck, and financial projection in place to start a Country Park Retreat And Motorhome Campsite —a safe space for healing and personal growth created from my journey through abuse. But I need your help to make this a reality.
My next book will launch soon; again, all sales will help establish a non-profit, but it is still in the works. It highlights the impact of emotional abuse, the gaps in legal systems that fail to protect women, and how I am transforming these challenges into a positive future.
By supporting this campaign, you'll not only help me escape the financial and emotional grip of my ex-partner but also contribute to a meaningful initiative to start a non-profit in Spain to turn domestic abuse survivors into entrepreneurs. Helping women move from trauma to transformation.
QUOTE "IPV - intimate partner violence is a structural economic issue. Women are at high risk of emotional psychological and financial devastation plus secondary victimization by the justice system The victim is never to blame for what has happened to them. Survivors have been conditioned or groomed in the relationship to believe that anything and everything is their fault. Financial insecurity can happen to anyone."
Please join me in turning something negative into something positive.
Your contribution will not only help me rebuild my life, but I can launch a meaningful non-profit and raise awareness of the challenges faced by women dealing with post-separation abuse.
The first goal is €2,400 to start the legal process to establish the non-profit.
The second goal is €1,599 to replace a worn-out Apple Mac 15" screen laptop which will help me to continue working on my business plans.
About the Books - all sales will help establish a non-profit in Spain.
Post-Separation Abuse: Betrayal & Abandonment, What Type of Man? https://amzn.to/3yy7Qs1
This book takes readers through my journey of attracting a partner I thought was a friend and soulmate. However, over time, I began to see red flags of hidden emotional abuse and bullying. I link these red flags to narcissistic behaviours and describe how post-separation abuse led to legal battles between Spain and the UK. The book also highlights the glaring gaps in the laws of both countries and offers resources for those recovering from emotional abuse.

I published the Spanish version in 2023 despite the allegation of Criminal Defamation . It sheds light on the draconian nature of " precarious eviction laws" and how women are left in poverty due to a lack of legal protections for women in non-married relationships where men think they can end a relationship after many years and discard women like rag dolls, leaving her out on the streets. This is 2024, not 1954. Things have changed since then, and this should not be allowed to happen.

The good news is that the Criminal Court dismissed the final two allegations in October 2024, and I feel more confident about pursuing my original ideas from 2020 based on a Mindfulness Retreat. The Civil Court has suspended two dates for my eviction in March and December 2024. I have no idea what the courts will decide to do next that is why I have decided to launch this initiative now. As an English foreigner in Spain, I have not been provided with the support I needed, and the impact of grief, trauma, anxiety, and litigation abuses has kept me stuck. Now, I no longer have a prison sentence hanging over my head; it is time to spring into action again and do something to secure my financial future and also help other women who experience emotional and financial devastation.
