Support Liberated Kids

Liberated Kids is a Self-Directed Education (SDE) Community for kids between the ages of 5-14 in unceded Ohlone territory (aka Oakland). We are an alternative to school where kids are recognized as the leaders of their own learning. We strive to be a safe and inclusive space where Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and other POC voices and experiences are centered. We are rooted in community, as parents, family, and community members are guides and co-learners. We are endeavoring to decolonize childhood and allow our children to be their full selves. 

Why do we exist?

- We have seen too many talented and brilliant Black and brown children that just aren't good at the game of school, or don't care to be good at it. 

- For generations, we have seen schools disregard home cultures, languages and ways of being... and cause harm. 

- We have seen tools of oppression used to control and manage children. Children's natural curiosity and playfulness suppressed. 

At Liberated Kids, we provide an environment that allows kids' curiosity, playfulness, and other natural ways of learning to flourish... where kids can feel LIBERATED!

Our goal is to be accessible to ANY child and family regardless of socioeconomic situation. Therefore, we provide a Sliding Scale option that goes all the way down to $0.

At the same time, we want to be able to fairly compensate our full-time facilitators and provide resources and opportunities for our kiddos.

To sustain our program, we will need to raise approximately $50000 through donations per year. If we don't raise this money, we can't sustain our program into the future.
