Support for a Free Iran
The Strategic Litigation Project (SLP) is an initiative within the Atlantic Council that provides critical support to some of the world’s most vulnerable populations, ensuring accountability for atrocity crimes, and advancing systemic reforms to prevent future abuses. Our program on Iran needs additional resources in this critical moment, when thousands of Iranian protesters are reported to have been killed in a 2-3 day period in January 2026.
Toward these aims, our teams are currently working on the following:
- Working on a criminal complaint submitted in federal court in Argentina holding the Islamic Republic of Iran accountable for crimes against humanity in Iran. With your support the complaint can be amended to include the crimes committed by the Iranian regime in January 2026.
- Urging countries around the world to open structural investigations against Islamic Republic of Iran officials for crimes against humanity committed against Iranian protesters from 2022 until now. This will prevent officials from seeking refuge in North America or Europe.
- Building the Iranian Archive, a repository of digital evidence documenting human rights abuses and international crimes during the Islamic Republic of Iran’s crackdown on the Woman, Life, Freedom movement. With your support we can expand the archive to include documentation of the January 2026 massacre.
- Filing the first legal complaint holding the Islamic Republic of Iran accountable for supplying drones to Russia to be used in civilian attacks in Ukraine.
Your support at this critical juncture would enable us to continue our work uninterrupted, maintain the momentum of ongoing legal cases, and uphold the rights of those who have suffered unimaginable injustices. Stand for justice, donate today.
