People in their most vulnerable moments rely on clinical teams who are overstretched and working in conditions that directly affect both the quality and the safety of care. Ensuring patient safety today means supporting those who deliver care as much as those who receive it.
WHO WE ARE
The European Patient Safety Foundation (EUPSF) is an independent, European foundation bringing together experts, patient organisations, healthcare professionals, researchers, providers, policymakers and innovators.
OUR ROLE
Our role is simple but ambitious: to be the voice calling for strong patient safety and quality of care across Europe.
We work to:
Empower people by ensuring patients, professionals, and healthcare leaders are informed, trained and supported to achieve the safest care possible.
Drive change by developing initiatives and policy proposals that advance patient safety in a meaningful and practical way.
Foster collaboration by connecting patient safety stakeholders across Europe, enabling them to share knowledge, tools and recommendations that improve outcomes.
Patient safety is complex and deeply interconnected with leadership, team culture, digital transformation, organisational performance, and the well-being of healthcare workers. That is why we approach it systemically, recognising that sustainable improvement requires everyone working together.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
Maintaining our independence is increasingly challenging. Although we secure funding for specific projects, the day-to-day operation of the Foundation relies solely on the contributions of our affiliates, with a large proportion coming from only a few actors.
This creates an unstable situation, where our ability to continue essential work depends each year on whether this support can be renewed. Such uncertainty makes it difficult to plan ahead, to work under serene and stable conditions, and to fully safeguard the independence that is central to our mission.
To remain a strong, credible, and impartial voice in patient safety, even modest recurring donations can provide the stability we need. Your support helps ensure that we can continue acting as a trusted, neutral voice for patient and healthcare worker safety across Europe.
