Help Save Eastside Cafe

Dear Esteemed Donor,

The Eastside Café wants to thank you for your generous financial support, helping us save our space, and uplift a vital part of the El Sereno community.  As of March 2026, we have about 60 recurring monthly donors who collectively contribute approximately $1,000 each month. Our aim is to reach 240 recurring donors who collectively give $4,000 per month. Our monthly bills are $4,600.  Monthly sustainers are crucial to our ability to continue serving as a communal gathering and rallying space for education, art, and culture. For 24 years, Eastside Café has served as a hub for local initiatives, groups, and organizations — from the El Sereno Garden to the 24/7 free food refrigerator — that support the community and offer a variety of resources to El Sereno residents. Moving forward, we will continue to fight against the harmful impacts of capitalism on our community, create a microcosm of our ideal future, provide space for meaningful conversations, and honor the land we call home. 

As we fight this dying stage of capitalism, the attacks on self-determination, such as in Palestine, the continuing threat of gentrification, and Trump’s fascist ICE attacks, we appeal that you consider donating monthly.  Your monthly donations will cover a significant portion of our rent costs as we also continue to fundraise for the building purchase, thereby establishing indefinite community ownership.  

The Eastside Café is of the people, by the people, and with the people. Let’s keep it that way. As a small token of our appreciation, we would also like to offer a free Eastside Café T-shirt in exchange for a $20 monthly contribution. You can pick up your T-shirt at any of our events with your monthly subscription receipt.
