Goal
My fellow MedGlobal medical mission volunteers and I all came to Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, where we pitched in as the citizens of the Gaza Strip rushed to the hospital in a huge mass casualty event.
Sadly, no hospital on Earth could cope with hundreds of patients—half of them severely injured children—arriving in just a few hours.
Over the next 12 hours, I performed 10 operations, half of them on young children, and most of the rest on young women. Many of those patients won't survive the coming days.
When I came to Gaza for this medical mission I feared the ceasefire would be broken. Now it has been, and the mass killing has started again. Even before the bombs started dropping I saw malnourished children, unable to get enough nutrition to make up for the 15 months of extreme hunger they had just endured. This hospital is always running low on supplies because the warehouse that stored them was burned during the siege of the hospital last year. Cases of gastroenteritis, especially in children, were spiking again after Israel once again cut off water and electricity.
Now we are witnessing absolute carnage.
The MedGlobal team, volunteers and staff alike, are doing all they can to save as many lives as they can.
But we need your help.
Hospitals and medical points in Gaza can't save the sick and wounded if they don't have the supplies and equipment they need. If you can, please donate today. No matter how small a donation is, it could be the difference between someone getting a bandage, an antibiotic, or the surgery they need to save their life.
Thank you, from me and the people of Gaza.
