Black Girls CODE builds pathways for Black girls to embrace the current tech
marketplace as builders and creators by introducing them to skills in computer
programming and technology. Radical action is needed if we are to close the opportunity gap for Black women and girls. We lead a global movement to establish equal representation in the tech sector. Black Girls CODE is devoted to showing the world that Black girls can code and do so much more. Together, we are creating stronger economies and more equitable societies—ultimately realizing the true potential of democracy through
diversity and inclusion.

Someone from my company had tshirts made and was selling them internally to commemorate a recent achievement we had at work. The last thing I need is more shirts, but when I found out he was putting all the profits toward your cause, I thought that was totally awesome and inspirational. And he even said he would be donating out of his pocket the difference between the profits he made and his target donation amount. So I'm matching him! It can be overwhelming to decide what organizations to donate to since there are so many great groups of people doing great things, but yours seems particularly sensible! The world not only "needs coders" but really we need to shift the balance in backgrounds of those in power to be more ethnically, culturally, and gender diverse. And in this day and age, the ability to code (especially from a young age) is power. Can't wait to see what these girls continue to do!
