Support Aldea PJC

Dear Supporter,

We co-founded Aldea because we believe in the transformative power of justice and the strength that lies within every community. Aldea the People’s Justice Center is dedicated to making quality legal representation in immigration matters accessible to all. Our diverse programs embody our commitment to empowering individuals, fostering unity, and creating lasting change.

In 2023 the following programs made a difference for hundreds of immigrants - families seeking unity and protection, children, and other vulnerable populations. We now ask for your support to keep these programs going in 2024 and beyond!

1. Low-Cost Quality Representation Program:
Aldea's mission is to ensure that quality representation in immigration matters is accessible to everyone in the community. Through our low-cost program, we strive to break down barriers and provide legal support to those in need.

2. Aldea’s New Americans Project (ANAP):
ANAP extends pro bono legal support to lawful permanent residents pursuing American citizenship. By partnering with the Literacy Council of Berks County, we offer guidance and representation through the citizenship process, empowering individuals to navigate challenges and embrace a sense of belonging.

3. Guatemalan Assistance Project (GAP):
Our GAP initiative stands as a beacon of support for the vibrant Guatemalan community. Through collaboration with the Guatemalan Consulate of Philadelphia, we provide comprehensive training and legal support, ensuring vulnerable individuals are reached and empowered to thrive in their new country.

4. Haitian Outreach Project (HOPE):
Amid challenges faced by recently arrived Haitians, our HOPE program serves as a lifeline, offering cultural competence and legal representation. From securing Temporary Protected Status to asylum protections, we guide individuals toward stability, self-sufficiency, and renewed hope.

5. Aldea C.A.R.E.S. Project:
Our Children’s Advocacy, Representation, and Services Project provides free legal representation to unaccompanied immigrant children. By amplifying their voices and reshaping their futures, we safeguard the rights of the youngest members of our community.

Our Most Notable Achievements of 2023

Our naturalization program achieved the goal of submitting 100 naturalization applications, empowering individuals to participate in the democratic process.

The universal representation program at the Berks County Detention Center contributed to the permanent closure of the center, marking the end of a harmful and unnecessary detention program in our community.

Our Challenge and Your Impact:
As a small organization, we face the challenge of limited capacity to meet the overwhelming need for immigration legal assistance. Turning people away is the most difficult reality, but with your support, we can grow and extend our reach, ensuring that no one in need is left without help.

Your Support Matters:
Your contribution to Aldea PJC will directly impact lives, allowing us to provide legal representation, support, and empowerment to those navigating the complexities of the immigration system.

Long-Term Vision:
Our vision extends beyond legal assistance; we aim to contribute to a community that knows and exercises its full potential. With immigration relief, individuals can live free from fear, contributing more to the well-being of our shared community.
