SUPPORT OUR WORK

If you can, please consider supporting Alborada’s independent journalism by contributing a regular amount each month or making a one-off donation – and just sharing this appeal is also greatly appreciated.

Since Alborada launched in July 2009 with a documentary screening on Brazil's Landless Workers’ Movement (MST) we have provided a platform for documentaries, organised and supported hundreds of talks and published countless articles on Latin American politics, media and culture.

We couldn’t have done this without the many wonderful writers, journalists, activists, campaigners and filmmakers who have contributed along the way.

In 2020 Latin America is living through uncertain times. Faced with a Trump presidency in the US and an emboldened regional Right, encapsulated in the nightmare election of neofascist Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil, the region’s social and progressive movements have responded with defiance and strength, pushing the right back against the ropes across much of the continent.

In times like these, independent and grassroots media plays a vital role in holding power to account and critiquing contemporary events. That’s why we’re asking for your support.

We currently have ambitious plans to take Alborada to the next level but need more resources to achieve them. As such, we’ve launched a fundraising drive for regular financial contributions, with the aim of reaching £500 per month by the end of May 2020. With your help, we believe we can get there – and hopefully beyond.

These funds will help us to:

  • Pay a part-time communications and engagement officer to increase our reach
  • Pay a part-time video editor to increase our multimedia content with more videos and podcasts
  • Keep organising events on Latin America and pay some core costs

A regular programme of Alborada Online events is also high on our list of priorities and we have taken out a PRO subscription. Anyone that donates at least £2 per month or makes a one-off donation of £25 or more will be added to a special email list that receives priority booking for our online events. Visit the events section on our website for more information.

If you can, please consider supporting Alborada’s independent journalism by contributing a regular amount each month or making a one-off donation – and just sharing this appeal is also greatly appreciated.

Gracias!
