53two started with an idea: to create a theatre where artists could take risks, new voices could be heard and accessibility wasn’t an afterthought.

We built it. Now we need your help to keep it thriving.

Under the arches in the heart of Manchester, 53two has grown into a fully accessible independent theatre, arts venue and registered charity – a home for new writing, emerging talent and brilliant theatre. What was once a pop-up space and an ambitious set of plans is now a busy venue welcoming artists, audiences and communities through our doors week after week.

But buildings like ours don’t survive on ticket sales alone.

Every donation helps us continue doing the things that matter: keeping our spaces accessible, giving emerging artists somewhere to take their first steps, supporting new writing, creating opportunities for people who are too often excluded from our industry and keeping ticket prices within reach of the audiences we exist to serve.

It also helps us look after the venue itself. Our theatre, bar, rehearsal spaces and accessible facilities all need maintaining, improving and investing in so that 53two can continue to be here for the next generation of artists and audiences.

It might help put a new writer’s work on stage. It might help an emerging company get their first opportunity. It might contribute towards access provision that means somebody can experience theatre who otherwise couldn’t. Or it might simply help keep the lights on, the building warm and the doors open.
