Goal
This is a supplemental Fundraiser for TK's legal defense.
Theodore John Kaczynski, Ph.D, is a former mathematics professor and anti-technology, pro-wilderness writer. Convicted of the so-called "Unabomber" crimes in 1998, he is currently an inmate at the U.S. Federal Maximum Security Prison, Colorado (ADX 'Supermax'). The author of two highly-acclaimed books (Technological Slavery and Anti-Tech Revolution), one now world-famous manifesto ("Industrial Society and its Future"), along with several other essays, stories, and letters, Kaczynski offers a unique and invaluable contribution to humanity's understanding of the nature of technology and its adverse impact on society.
The U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), acting purely out of political motives and without any reasonable justification, has recently created a number of unnecessary difficulties for Dr. Kaczynski. Collectively, these actions amount to effectively silencing him and censoring his speech. This legal fund is designed to (1) raise money for Dr. Kaczynski to retain legal counsel to protect his First Amendment rights, (2) to allow him to continue his research, writing, and communication with the outside world, and (3) to protect the right of the public to receive his ideas.
All donations are managed by a Michigan non-profit corporation, “Michigan Students and Alumni for the Defense of Prisoner’s Rights” (MSADPR). All donors’ identities are kept strictly confidential, unless they specifically request otherwise. All funds raised (100%) will be applied strictly for the hiring of legal counsel on behalf of Dr. Kaczynski, to cover legal expenses related to the cost of litigation against the BOP. This is the sole fund-raising effort for such legal defense.
All donations are non-refundable. Once received, they become the sole property of MSADPR. The use or non-use of any and all funds are at the sole discretion of the managing officers of the corporation.
