Far too many children start behind in reading and never catch up. 

The latest National Assessment of Educational Progress revealed only 32% of fourth graders read proficiently in the US. In high-poverty schools, that number drops to just 19%.

This crisis isn’t new. Reading scores have been declining for more than a decade, even before the pandemic widened existing gaps, which have long-term consequences. 

Children who aren’t reading proficiently by third grade are four times more likely to drop out of high school. For those living in poverty, the risk more than doubles.

But in Success for All schools, we’re seeing something different.
